As the original idea to her 'Useless Vases' series, both Idle Vases were created as part of a miniature brief Swift was set during her time at University, to make something appealing to the eye yet completely useless. After firing and decorating both Vases, she fell in love with Clay and this sparked her to create a much larger series - The Useless Vases.
