SOFT PLAY 2019
Turning typically industrial materials into forms that seem ‘soft’ and ‘squashy’ to the eye is what Swift was working with for this series. Using concrete, plaster and other technical materials, Swift has created a series of industrial aesthetic based pieces, which aim to confuse and change the perspective of ‘hard’ materials. By using string, elastic bands and other restricting materials, the idea of malleable materials is hinted by the marks, creases and folds in the sculptures.
